Reading Your Meter

Se-Ma-No members help keep cost down by reading and reporting meter readings each month on their payment stub.  The reading turned in tells how much electricity was used the previous month which will be the amount billed for on the next month's bill.  Sometimes this is very confusing as the bill  you receive on the first of the month is for electricity used 30 to 60 days before. (ie., your March 1 bill is for electricity consumed in January).

All numbers on the meter dial should be copied on your payment stub.  Record these numbers exactly as they appear on your meter.

Reading and recording your meter reading on the first day of each month is certainly important.  Even if you do not pay your bill until later, reading your meter on the first helps eliminate confusion about electrical use and reflects billing to the correct period of usage.
